If the OrchOR model of consciousness is correct, will quantum computing be the key to unlocking conscious artificial intelligence? IBM just announced the creation of their first ever 1000 qubit quantum computer, called Condor. Could this quantum leap forward in hardware lend the spark of consciousness that is required for artificial intelligence to reach escape velocity? Following Dr. Stuart Hameroff and Sir Roger Penrose's Orchestrated Objective Reduction Model of Consciousness, it is quite likely that it will! It is also very reasonable to assume that we will not know for sure until after it is already done...
