This is the first lecture in a new course that will explore applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in finance. In particular, we will look at the applications of Machine Learning (ML), a subfield of AI to trading, a subfield of finance.

We start from very basic notions in both ML and finance and build our way up slowly but with confidence. The use of theory and mathematics is need-based, so that we do not introduce unnecessary complexity to our studies. We follow several books and papers published in this field. Videos will be posted on the Quantopian course space together with notes and lecture notes (slides).

The course will be offered free of charge for Quantopian Community members.
