Social Media Executives grilled by US Congress over online child exploitation.
The practices of major social media platforms in combating the exploitation of children came under fire during the Senate judiciary hearing on “Big Tech and the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crisis”, with re-emerging questions over the difficulties in protecting people from cyber offences. Throughout four hours of questioning, issues arose such as search term blocks, disclaimer alerts, and nefarious artificial intelligence use, and even involved eta CEO Mark Zuckerberg turning to apologise to the families of victims present for the hearing.
