Embodied artificial intelligence sector in Shenzhen set for rapid expansion

At the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society in south China, a group of researchers has developed an agile robot hand that can detect external pressure and temperatures with a small camera embedded in its palm.

Researchers say the camera captures visual signals that are crucial to training embodied AI robots.

Earlier this year, the city announced a plan to further develop its embodied artificial intelligence industry with an aim of expanding the number of companies in the sector to over 1,200 in the next three years.

Additional plans the city has in store include the cultivation of 10 EAI enterprises valued at 1.4 billion US dollars, also within the next three years.
