With today's advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital twin technology, it's only a matter of time before there are replicas of the deceased that are indistinguishable from the living.

An early version of this just emerged, bringing a celebrated sitcom star and entrepreneur back as a hyper-realistic humanoid robot.

Alan Hamel, the husband of the late actress Suzanne Somers, worked with Las Vegas-based Realbotix Corp. and Hollo AI to bring his late wife back to life through cutting-edge technology.

According to her husband of 46 years, Somers had talked about using technology to live on after death long before artificial intelligence captured the zeitgeist. Throughout her career, she embraced emerging technologies, viewing them as tools to extend her voice and stay connected to people.

Somers died on October 15th, 2023, a day before her 77th birthday. Her passing came after a long battle with breast cancer, which she had first been diagnosed with in 2000.

She began her acting career in the late 1960s with small roles and became a household name in the late 70s when she starred as Chrissy Snow on the hit sitcom Three's Company. She cemented her status as a TV icon in the 90s, portraying Carol Foster Lambert, the mom in the family sitcom Step by Step.

Somers was one of the earliest celebrities to successfully balance entrepreneurship and entertainment careers.
