#Budget2025 | Global headlines have been dominated by China's launch of its low-cost AI foundational model, DeepSeek, causing a major disruption in the market. In a move to safeguard the U.S.'s dominance in AI, former President Donald Trump has announced the $500 billion Stargate Project, a partnership with tech giants like OpenAI and Google to solidify the nation's leadership in AI development. Meanwhile, India is rapidly advancing its AI capabilities with the launch of the IndiaAI Mission, backed by a substantial ₹10,300 crore allocation. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has revealed that India will be developing its own AI foundational model, supported by a new computing facility featuring 18,693 graphic processing units (GPUs). This facility will offer AI compute services at just ₹100 per hour—almost half the global benchmark—positioning India as an attractive destination for AI model training. With a four-year subsidy plan and collaboration with six major startups, the project aims to complete the model in just 6 to 10 months.
