Riverfire 2024 - Boats Arriving For Riverfire Timelapse

A timelapse of boats arriving for Riverfire on the Brisbane River. Normally, there are only 4 or 5 boats anchored off Kangaroo Point, just south of the Holman Street ferry terminal. Before the floods of 2022, there were over a dozen boats, many of which were washed away or destroyed during the floods, others were relocated elsewhere.

During Riverfire, there can be 60 or more private boats of all sizes just in this area, with many more further upstream, including just past the new Kangaroo Point green bridge that will connect to the lower end of Edward Street at the entrance to the Botanical Gardens, servicing walkers and cyclists.

It was a key area for trade, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries, when Brisbane was rapidly growing.
