Samsung Electronics projected robust demand for chips driven by artificial intelligence in the latter half of the year. This optimistic forecast came alongside a report of more than a 15-fold increase in its operating profit for the second quarter. The surge in semiconductor prices, driven by the AI boom, majorly boosted earnings for the world's largest maker of memory chips, smartphones and TVs, marking a sharp recovery from last year’s low. Following the announcement, Samsung's share price rose by 0.7%, outperforming the 0.3% gain in the benchmark index.
