The European Parliament’s Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA) took an early interest in a technology that is increasingly shaping our world: Artificial Intelligence.
Its experts, scientists and MEPs recognised the potential of AI for sectors like education, medicine and computing, but also the risks and challenges.
With its work, STOA has been feeding the discussions in the EP towards the preparation the AI act, one of the 2019-2024 Parliament’s most pioneering pieces of legislation.
STOA's work has also been fundamental in preparing the discussions of the European Parliament towards other related crucial legislation such as the Data Act, Data Governance Act, Cyber Resilience Act, Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act.
The Panel's work continues, as it keeps a watchful eye on developments like generative AI.
