The other day, trying to Uber to the airport, I was shocked to see the fare had doubled to nearly $100. Turns out, a taxi was much cheaper. This got me thinking about the way companies price generative AI and other tech products. Initially, these products are often subsidized to draw us in and build dependency. Like Uber, tech companies might start low to dominate the market, but prices could climb as these technologies become integral to our workflows. It's a common strategy where big tech might end up capturing most of the value created. Watching how this unfolds will be fascinating.
