Major tech companies including Amazon (AMZN) and IBM (IBM) are collaborating with U.S. government agencies like the Department of Energy and NASA on a new National Science Foundation initiative called the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) program.
NAIRR is a 2-year pilot program aimed at establishing a framework for advancing AI technology, and democratizing access to AI tools for researchers, students, and institutions.
By pooling together resources from the tech industry and government sector, the goal is to create a national AI research infrastructure that provides shared data, educational tools and other critical resources.
