This AI job scam collapses when you ask candidates to do one thing... Companies are facing a new threat - fake job candidates using AI to create synthetic identities. They're applying for remote positions with deepfake faces, AI-generated voices, and impressive fake resumes. By 2028, experts predict 1 in 4 job applicants will be fake. When recruiter Bettina Liporazzi noticed something off about a candidate's video, she asked him to place a hand in front of his face - which would disrupt the AI filter. The imposter immediately disconnected. In another case, a tech CEO spotted a Russian 'coder' whose facial expressions didn't match his words. Once hired, these imposters can install malware, steal customer data, or simply collect salaries they don't deserve. Some are even linked to North Korean spy networks that funnel money back to fund weapons programs.
