 Technology acts as a crucial catalyst in propelling India to become the world's fastest-growing innovation economy.
 In the last ten years, the policies of Digital India have not just fostered a dynamic digital economy and innovation ecosystem but have also contributed to a remarkable landscape, featuring over a hundred thousand startups and more than 108 unicorns.
 Surpassing GDP growth by 2.5-2.8 times, the digital economy is set to make a substantial contribution of 20% to the GDP by 2026, representing an increase from the modest 4.5% in 2014 and the current 11%.
 Emphasizing a dedicated commitment to AI research, the mission includes the establishment of essential infrastructure for AI computation and the curation of high-quality, diverse datasets crucial for refining Indian models.
 A recent report from Stanford University's AI index highlights India's leadership in the penetration of AI skills, surpassing even the United States. IndiaAI is intensely focused on ensuring that the academic and technological environments in India nurture cutting-edge AI talent individuals ready to play a crucial role in shaping the future of AI, both nationally and internationally.
GPAI Summit New Delhi
 A landmark in Global AI Discourse.
 The GPAI Summit 2023 in New Delhi is a significant milestone in the continuous global dialogue surrounding AI.
 With India serving as the host under its Chairmanship, and with representatives from 28 nations in attendance, the summit reinforces the international acknowledgment of AI's influence, signifying a crucial moment in the global conversation on Artificial Intelligence.
 The summit highlighted three fundamental pillars: Inclusion, Collaborative AI, and Safe & Trusted AI.
 This statement exemplifies India's dedication to embracing technology inclusively, ensuring that nations worldwide, especially those in the Global South, can access the advantages of AI to enhance the well-being of their citizens.
 In contrast to the traditional divide between market-driven innovation and the more regulatory European model centered on safeguarding citizens' rights, a new paradigm is taking shape, led by India.
 This strategy, shaped by the Prime Minister's vision, concentrates on stimulating innovation while simultaneously establishing guidelines and regulations to ensure its safety and trustworthiness.
 Over the last two years, India has meticulously formulated this framework within the realms of innovation and the digital economy, as evidenced by IT rules and other legislation.
 India's strategy involves establishing principles and a comprehensive list of harms and criminal activities linked to AI.
 Rather than regulating AI at specific developmental stages, India is championing the implementation of explicit guidelines for platforms, focusing on concerns such as bias and misuse during model training.
 The proposed framework delineates prohibited actions, supported by legal consequences for those who do not comply.
 The current IT rules serve as the basis for tackling issues associated with AI-driven misinformation, including deepfakes.
 The revised IT Act regulations, enforced in February 2021, October 2022, and April 2023, give prominence to the obligations of platforms.
 Platforms are required to proactively curb the spread of misinformation, with explicit regulations defining unacceptable user-harm content.
